Dr. Spencer King III discusses operator specific reporting for angioplasty outcomes. |
Drs. Spencer King III and Jeffrey Popma discuss Operator Specific Reporting for angioplasty outcomes at the annual SCAI (Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions) Scientific Sessions. It is a very controversial topic as to whether this kind of reporting represents a benefit to patients. Therefore, Dr. King suggests that the most important is that physicians who are dealing with reporting the outcomes become familiar with the risk adjustment model and how it is being practiced since it is a very complicated process where every patient reacts differently. The risk adjustment works pretty well with “high risk patients,” but becomes extremely controversial with “very high risk patients.”
