| Dr. Joseph Babb Discusses Recent Advocacy Efforts of SCAI with Dr. Jeff Popma |
Dr. Popma interviews Dr. Babb on the recent legislative and reimbursement issues from the
Society for Cardiac and Angiography Interventions (SCAI) Scientific Sessions. Amidst the
reduction in reimbursement rates in invasive cardiology procedures, the SCAI has worked to
increase the rates by 4% in work value units over the next 3 years through a new formula
that has just been accepted by the CMS.
Other SCAI advocacy efforts include the recent
coverage decision on carotid stenting and the development of rational guidelines in the
Pay for Performance era.
