James G. Jollis, MD and Mayme L. Roettig RN, MSN discuss the
results of the RACE Trial at AHA 2007. Prior to the
implementation of this statewide program, there were
typically 3 hour delays in door to balloon times when a
patient was transferred for primary PCI from an outlying
hospital to a hub hospital. The authors discuss statewide
strategies that involve everyone from EMS to cardiologists
which improved door to balloon times throughout the state.
